On July 23, we held a gathering to stand in solidarity with Indigenous nations as they grieve the children killed by the residential school system. Over the past several months, the graves of 1,665+ children have been found on the grounds of five residential schools in Canada. There are 134 more sites across Canada yet to be examined.
Over its history, the Ontario Reformatory had an overrepresentation of Indigenous people. This trend continues in Canada’s justice system to this day. We support the calls of the Truth and Reconciliation comission.
